"Peace" Beauty from Within
By Keith Allen Johnson
"Peace" was inspired by the Venus de Milo, one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. Created sometime between 130 and 100 BC, it is believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. The Venus de Milo is currently on permanent display at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
In this modern depiction of love and beauty the sculptor has powerfully captured a sense of peace that is at the heart of all human longing. The beautiful woman captured here with soft completion and long flowing hair has a profound message to tell. This stunning sculpture reminds us that true beauty flows from the heart that is at peace.
